JANUARY 2003
January 27, 2003 Remember Last Year? Dear teammate, A couple of weeks ago, our pastor shared five things to
remember as we head into the New Year.
I really enjoyed what he had to say so I want to pass it along to
you along with some personal applications from our own life. Remember!!! 1)
God
Still Saves People. In an era
where it is politically incorrect to say you stand for anything as true
we need to remember that the Lord still saves souls.
Besides the people who were introduced to our Savior through
our ministry, Patti’s father became a believer in March and has begun
attempts to reconnect with his family that he left more than 40 years
ago!!! 2)
He
Provides for Us. The Lord provided manna
for His children and He will provide for us as well. God has provided for our needs this past year both
spiritually and materially. 3)
He
Preserves Unity. We all have different
opinions about issues, but our Lord provides unity in the essentials so
we can enjoy the differences and not fight over them.
We are praising God for the renewed unity and commitment that
we have seen in our CLM staff nationwide this past year. We have worked well together in various conferences and
projects. 4)
Resist
Temptation. The year ahead holds a
variety of temptations for us. We
need to say no to them. At Christmas we faced a temptation to be VERY
DISAPPOINTED when we stayed in Texas to care for Patti’s Mom who was
very ill instead of going to Chicago to be with the rest of our
families. Daily God gave
usfun ways to connect with our children and friends here. 5)
Remember
the Amazing Things the Lord has Done. Just as
Israel built an altar of 12 stones to remember that the Lord brought
them across the Jordan River on dry land to the Promised Land, we too
need to remember the blessings He has given us this past year. We
continue to marvel at the miraculous healing that the Lord gave
Patti’s Mom through her hip surgery in January 2002.
We trust Him to do similar things with her knee replacement
surgery scheduled for February 4th! Please add her to your
prayer list.
Serving Christ with you,
